Mrs. Mary Nell McCoy's Obituary
Mary N. McCoy was born to the late Ola D. and Calvin Watson, September 1, 1930, in Lisman, Alabama.
She gave her life to Christ at the age of 9 years old. She met and married the first love of her life, Cleo Crowell. From that union, she gave birth to William Cleo, Ora Dianna, Arthur Charles, Ida Mae, Kelvin Lee, Beverly Delores and Frederick Lavon. She worked at Star Cleaners (later Perfection Cleaners), worked at Mattie Hersey Hospital as a nursing assistant. She dedicated her life to being successful and allowing her children the opportunity to learn and grow. She returned to school, got her GED and became a licensed insurance agent. She demonstrated courage, nurturance, kindness and a disciplining hand. She was the Mother of Fairview Baptist Church and held the office of President of the Missionary Society for 40 years. She decided to retire, but became a foster grandparent at South East Elementary School. She made angelic visits to the nursing home, volunteered, sang praises union the Lord and found comfort and peace while working in the flowers and vegetable gardens. She was a member of AARP. Most importantly, she was blessed and highly favored of the Lord.
Mary Nell McCoy passed this life into eternity on August 21, 2019, in Meridian, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by both parents, a son, William, and a daughter, Ida Mae.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her husband, Mr. Frank McCoy of Meridian, MS; five children: Ora Dianne (Willie) Mitchell, Arthur Charles (Eula) Crowell, Kelvin Lee Crowell, Beverly Delores (Paul) Cooley, Fredrick Lavon (Rosie) Crowell and a daughter-in-law, Vickie Crowell, all of Meridian, MS. She also leaves 22 grandchildren: Jennifer, William A., Wayne, Levesha, Fredrick, James, Tara Camille, Kara LeNell, Dianna Delores, Daniel, Cedric, Kimberly, Shanetta, Brenda, Aaron, Kelvin, derrick, Shaun, Paul Jr, Kelsey, Artecia and Artavis. Further blessed with 20 great-grandchildren, Roderick, Jada, Tariona, Cha’Tara, Danielle, Kendasha, Daniel, Tamera, Cedrick Jr., Destini, Jarius, Kelsey Jr, Kenya, Jordan, Hale, Canina, Jelaysia, Jay Q, Maddox, Kaiden; and one great-great grandchild, Ta’Leya; and a host of other relatives and friends.
