Ms. Mary Pearl "Kate" Scott's Obituary
The life of Mary Pearl Scott began on May 20, 1942. She was the seventh of twelve children born to Mary Dukes Sanders and Marvin J. Sanders of Jasper County, MS who preceded her in death. Three brothers: Marshell Lee, Herbert and Tom sanders preceded her in death along with four sisters: Essie Sanders, Marvalean Simien, Ernestine Chapman and Nora Lee Marshall; one daughter, Devita Devay Sanders and one grandson, David J. Sanders.
She was affectionately known to family and friends as “Kate”. In the early 1980’s, she moved to Brunswick, NJ and was employed at Guest Supply Company. She decided to move back home to Mississippi where she rejoined East Galilee MB Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir, served on Mission Society Board and Asst. Sunday School Superintendent before her health failed. Kate had a love for fishing, playing softball and a good hand of spades.
Left to cherish her memory are three daughters: Carolyn D. (Willie) Carmichael, Dale Reed and friend Lee Thigpen of Rose Hill, MS and Florisa (Christopher) Wright of Beverly, NJ; six grandchildren: Viola Sanders, Joshua Scott, Joselyn Burnett, Caliph Wright Tyrell and Shequita Carmichael; three great-grandchildren: David J. Sanders Jr, Nadir Sanders and Steven Burnett; three sisters: Mary Bowie and Carolyn (James) Gates of Enterprise, MS and Nora Lee Edwards of Akron, OH; four brothers: John and Henry Sanders of Enterprise, MS; Marvin Sanders of Elwood, MS and Arzell Davis of Quitman, MS; a special friend, Rose Warren and cousin, Mandy Dukes, along with a host of family and friends.
