Mrs. Mary Cleo Williams McCoy's Obituary
MARY CLEO WILLIAMS MCCOY was born August 8, 1935 to Johnny C. Williams and Nannie M. Clark Williams in Meridian, MS. She attended St. Joseph, Wechsler, and T. J. Harris schools. CLEO was born with the gift of compassion. Always available to lend a helping hand, not expecting or wanting any praise. If someone was hungry, she fed them; if thirsty, she gave them a drink; if depressed, she up-lifted them with words of encouragement; if sick, she did whatever she could to ease their pain and suffering. It was only natural when MRS. MCCOY decided to enter into the field of nursing. She enrolled in the Nurses' Aide program at Matty Hersee Hospital where she received her certification. She worked in nursing her entire career at King Daughter's Rest Home, St. Joseph Hospital and the Lauderdale County Health Department. MRS. MCCOY was a strong, ambitious, and business-minded woman. In April 1986, she opened her group home for the mentally challenged. McCoy's Personal Care Home offered cli-ents a safe and comfortable home setting until they were able to transition to being on their own. MRS. MCCOY was a faithfully dedicated member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved her church and church family. She worked tirelessly at the rummage sale room; Friday night BIN-GO; cleaned the church; volunteer to Hospitality committee; Servants of Mary, LOVE's Kitchen and various committees over the years. Mrs. McCoy was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and the A.C.E.'s of St. Joseph and St. Patrick. MARY CLEO MCCOY and Freddy Thomas McCoy, Sr. were married for fifty-three years before his death in 2006. Mrs. McCoy was also preceded in death by her parents,Johnny C. and Nan-nie M. Clark Williams; son, Larry K. McCoy, Sr.; granddaughter, Chloe' A. Smith; and sisters, Corine Price, Lucille Matthews, and Bertha Irby. MARY CLEO MCCOY was blessed with a large loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Linda McCoy; sons, Freddie (Jr.) (Gloria), Darryl (Sr.) (Kim) , Roderick (Keisha) and Tarrance McCoy, all of Meridian, Mississippi; and sister, Johnnie K. Hodges of Battle Creek , Michigan, twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren and countless relatives and friends.
