Mrs. Matilda Page's Obituary
Matilda Jennie Williams Page was born Thursday, December 8, 1927 to Elbert Williams and Lillie Mae Williams in DeKalb, Kemper County, MS.
She attended Macedonia Grammar School and Whisenton High School in DeKalb, MS where she played on the girls basketball team. Matilda never met a stranger, and will be remembered as a beautiful queen with an unforgettable smile and loving heart. She was the oldest and the last surviving resident of the original Cook Quarters Community.
Matilda accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age. She began her spiritual walk at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in DeKalb, MS, and later joined Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Philadelphia, MS where she remained a member until her demise.
Matilda Jennie Williams Page, age 96, exited her earthly life on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Ochsner Rush Health Center.
Welcoming her arrival to her new heavenly home are: sons, Larry D. Williams and Barry Sharper; daughter, JoAnne Wilkins; grandson, Anthony Stribling; son-in-law, Levon Wilkins; father, Elbert Williams; mother, Lillie Mae Williams; sisters, Eliza Mae Williams, Maurine McCallum, and Mary Carpenter; brothers, DeSoto Williams, Creekmore Williams, and Ellis Williams; and two best friends, Maggie Knight and Willie Owens.
She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memories: loving daughter and caregiver, Debra Williams Wilkins; seven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Ophelia Williams; former son-in-law, Marzell McCallum, Sr.; foster children, Arlean Smith, Denise Moody, and Beletha Boyd; god sons, Lynn Otis Wilkins and Ronnie Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
