Mrs. Mattie Bailey Stephens' Obituary
Mattie Ree Bailey Stephens was born on January 30, 1945 to the late Ben and the late Mattie Temple Bailey in Bailey, Mississippi. She was the youngest of seven children. The Bailey family attended Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where Mattie Ree confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior. In her adult life, Mattie Ree met and Marie’s James Stephens, and to this union, two sons were born. On Friday, September 4, 2015, Mattie Ree departed this earthly journey, and entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her parents; her 4 brothers: Ben Jr, George, Johnny B and Moselle; and her 2 sisters: Louisiana and Lillie Mae.
She leaves to cherish her memories her 2 sons: Tyrone (Demetrius) Stephens of Meridian, MS and Omar (Kenyan) Stephens of Bailey, MS, one sister-in-law Ruth Marie Bailey of Bailey, MS and a host of God-children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
