Mrs. Maudie Boykin Lucas' Obituary
Maudie Boykin Lucas was an only child born June 17, 1935 to the late Sam and Leona Boykin in Stringer, MS. Maudie departed this life on May 30, 2023 at Diversicare in Quitman, MS.
Maudie attended school in the Bay Springs School District, graduating from Bay Springs Vocational High School.
On August 12, 1964, Maudie was united in Holy Matrimony to Matthew Lucas. A few years later, Matthew and Maudie relocated to Chicago, IL. While making her home in Chicago, she worked on several jobs including Sears, where she worked until she retired.
Maudie enjoyed shopping and going to her favorite places to eat. She really loved fish, shrimp, and turnip greens.
Around 2011, Maudie decided to return back to Mississippi making her home in Heidelberg, MS staying with a friend, Annie B. McCarty, until her health started to decline. She also stayed with a cousin, Doris Sims, for a few months before deciding to go live at Lakeside Health Rehabilitation Center where he husband, Matthew Lucas, also resided. Proceeding her in death were her parents: Sam and Leona Boykin; and her husband, Matthew Lucas.
Left to cherish her memories: God-daughter, Lorryce Favors (Gabriel Kennedy); a God-Granddaughter, Laila Calhoun, all from Stone Mountain, GA; her caretakers: Terry and Betty Porter, of Stonewall, MS; and a host of cousins and friends.
