Mr. Melvin Gowdy's Obituary
Melvin Gowdy was born September 26, 1950 to Lucy and Cleveland Gowdy of Lauderdale, MS. He joined Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age. Mr. Gowdy was a logger for Ralph Morgan for many years. He later married Minnie Gowdy, and unto this union he has one son: Melvin (Tracey) Gowdy, two daughters: Maggie (Jessie) Hill and Willie (Johnny) Hill, all of Lauderdale, MS. Two Godchildren: Priscilla (Roney) Naylor, and Terrance Clayton, all of Lauderdale, MS. Three brothers: Cleveland Gowdy Jr., Johnny (Debra) Gowdy, and John Frank Gowdy, all of Lauder-dale, MS. Five sisters: Sarah Gowdy,Annie Gowdy, Georgia (Mel) Welch, all of Lauderdale, MS. Shirley (Henry) Darden of Jacksonville, FL., and Vivian (Johnny) Darden of Kemper. Two sisters in laws: Emma Sanders, Ada McNeil; one brother in law: Richard Overstreet; one grandaughter: LaJessica Gowdy, and seven grandsons: LenDario, Earnquarius, DeVonte, Jamond, Ja'Carrius, Tayshon and Jamarcus. He is proceeded in death with his father Cleveland Gowdy (3) brothers Luther James Gowdy, Michael Curtis Gowdy, Ernest Lee Gowdy, (1) sister Catherine Hill, and a best friend Robert James Lee. A host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and friends.
