Mr. Melvin Wilson's Obituary
The life of Melvin Wilson began May 31, 1941 in Sumter County, Al. Melvin was born to the late Georgia Gibbs and Henry Lee Ruffin. He was one of (19) siblings, Five brothers whom preceded him in death : George Andrew Gibbs Sr., Willie "Pop" Ruffin, Henry Ruffin Jr., James Ruffin and Robert L. Wilson. Melvin accepted Christ at an early age and joined Morning Star Baptist Church Al. Melvin entered the world of work and worked various jobs. His love for truck driving led him to McElroy Truck Line (Cuba, Al)-where he was employed for 20 years. He also was employed at the Lauderdale County Barn for several years. He later moved to Meridian, MS and joined Shiloh Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member until his health failed. Melvin served in many capacities: Trustee, Usher Ministry, Male Chorus, and anywhere else he was needed. On February 2, 1994, he married his love, Debra Carter, and this union joined two children. Some Years later, four more children joined this circle of love. On January23, 2017, Melvin entered into his heavenly home. Left to cherish his precious memories a loving and devoted wife, Debra Wilson of Meridian, MS., (6) children: Ebony Moore, Jamarious Moore, Jacatherine Wilson, JaCaleb Wilson, Ja Cody Wilson and Ja Cory Wilson all of Meridian, MS.(3) grandchildren that held a special place in his heart : Ethan Campbell, Londyn Campbell and Josiah Moore. Also left to cherish his memories are (15)siblings: Mable (Nathaniel) Mason; Ora Gibbs of Cuba, AL.; Mattie J. Gibbs; Charles Gibbs both of Montgomery, AL; Edward and Walter Gibbs Jr. both of Meridian, MS.
