Mr. Michael L. Johnson's Obituary
Michael L. Johnson was born September 24, 1958 in Meridian, Mississippi to the late Lovell Johnson Jr. and Maude L. (Shackleford) Johnson. Michael joined the Congregation Church of God-Meridian as a young child, where he served as the church musician numerous years. The sound of his guitar touched many souls, it made the saints move. Michael attended the Meridian Public School District and was a graduate of the Class of 1976. He was a devoted, hardworking employee of James River for over twenty years. He was also employed by Atlas Roofing and Sam's Club of Meridian. Michael was a devoted son, a loving father, and loyal friend. He enjoyed life tremendously and touched many with his smile and sense of humor. On Thursday, February 2, 2017, Michael f"mished his course as he transitioned, setting himself free from the trails of this life. Michael leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother, Maude L.(Shackleford) Johnson, his son Michael L. Johnson Jr., daughters Lashica and Takeema, granddaughters Kalea and Kennedy, all of Meridian, Mississippi, his uncle, Jim (Queen) Shackleford of Butler, Alabama, and a host of honorary sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his father Lovell Johnson, his paternal grandparents, George and Gertrude Roberts, and maternal grandparents, Andy Frank and Pearlie Shackleford. Michael lived his life well and he looks forward to life more abundantly "The righteous man perishes, and no man takes it to heart, And devout men are taken away, while no one understands, For the righteous man is taken away from evil, He enters into peace; They rest in the beds, Each one who walked in his upright way." Isiah 57:1-2
