Mr. Moody Phillips Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Moody Phillips Jr., age 77, of Meridian, Mississippi was born in Selma, Alabama on April 3, 1942 to Moody and Annie Mae Phillips. He passed to eternal life on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. At a young age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Pilgrim Progress Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Phillips moved to Meridian, Mississippi at an early age. There he met and married Pearlie Evans for 25 years. To this union, seven children were born. Mr. Phillips worked numerous jobs starting his career in the U.S. Army Reserves 83rd Artillery. After his honorable discharge, he went on to start his own professional business as a tree cutter while also working with Meridian Public School Systems as a bus driver for 21 years. After his retirement with the school system, he continued to cut trees full time until his health declined.
Mr. Phillips was proceeded in death by his parents, three children: Mary Phillips, Jeffery Phillips, and Sabrina Johnson; his siblings: John Phillips, Rev. Scott Phillips, Kathleen Tinsley, Joyce Phillips, Burnell Phillips and Frankie Phillips; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Phillips leaves to cherish his memories: his five children of Meridian, Mississippi: Annie (Tony) Durr, Moody (Sophia) Phillips, Cynthia (Alton) Neal, Clara (George) Green; and of Birmingham, Alabama, Sabrina (Kenny) Tubbs. His 19 grandchildren, two of which he raised, Gerald and Eddie Lee; his 37 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
