Mr. Nathaniel Lewis' Obituary
On August 7, 1948, Nathaniel “Nate” Lewis was born to the late Ellis and Virginia Lewis in Columbus, OH.
Nathaniel served his country honorably. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1971. While on active duty, he was in the Honor Guard and played taps during memorial services. He served in the Army National Guard for over 31 years until his retirement in 2002. After his faithful military service, he worked as an airplane lineman at Naval Air Station Meridian for many yeas. Nathaniel confessed Christ at an early age and served faithfully in the ministry of the Lord. He was a longtime member and deacon of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Meridian, MS.
Nathaniel was united in holy matrimony to Mary Alice Darden Lewis for 50 years, and to this union, one son was born.
Nathaniel departed this life on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
His memory will be forever cherished by: his wife, Mary Alice Lewis of Meridian, MS; his son, Roderick NaShawn (Andrea) Lewis of Mansfield, TX; three sisters: Sadie Lewis and Dorothy (John) Dawson of Jackson, MS; and Gwenervere (Dorcy) Keenon of Memphis, TN; a brother, Henry (LaVetta) Lewis of Oklahoma City, OK; two grandsons: London and Leigh; three aunts; one uncle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
