Mr. Obie Leggett's Obituary
Obiedine Leggett better known as Obie, 76 of Meridian Mississippi, left this life to be with his Heavenly Father on March 21, 2016. Mr. Leggett was born February 12, 1940 to the late Lucy and Sherman Leggett. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Union Missionary' Baptist Church Kemper Springs. In 1962 he was united in holy matrimony to Annie Pearl Boyd of Lauderdale, Mississippi. To this union seven children were born. He drove trucks until his first child was born then started working for himself farming and doing mechanic work to be closer to his children. To many he was known as blue dog or boo he loved his family deeply and expressed it every chance he got. He touched everyone whom he ever met and he never met a stranger. He always had a smile on his face and loved to talk. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Odiedine (Obie) Leggett, Jr.; one sister Ella Mae Leggett, four brothers Riley, Odell, Henry Lee, Mack Leggett and granddaughter Melissa Bridges. His memories will be cherished by his loving wife, Annie Pearl Leggett of Meridian, MS, His devoted sons Elijah Leggett (Jackie) of Meridian, MS; James Leggett (Lakeisha) and Ayman Hassan (Anita) of Dekalb, MS; His devoted daughters Matricia Leggett, Phanicia Lake (Tommy), Wanda Leggett and Paris Hopson all of Meridian, MS; Sisters, Zelia Ann Baylor of New Or leas, LA and Bobbie Clark of Meridian, MS; His aunt's Sally Townsend, Bertha Moore both of Meridian, MS; Minnie Donald of Romulus, MI; Sister-in-laws Faye Hopson and Earlie Mae Lewis of Lauderdale, MS and Glenda Leggett of Dekalb, MS. He leaves a special "son" Lafayette Bolden (Poon) of Meridian, MS and two "special daughters" Beverly Sears and Chasity Curry of Meridian, MS. 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren that loved him like he was there father. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was truly loved and will be missed.
