Mr. Odeal Brown Sr.'s Obituary
Odeal Brown Sr. was born March 6, 1950 to O.D. and Velma Brown in Quitman, MS.
At an early age, Odeal joined New Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he developed the love for music. Odeal started playing the piano at New Oak Grove Baptist Church at the age of 14; after taking piano lessons while living with his sister and brother-in-law in New Orleans, LA. Odeal ministered music for over 50 years in the surrounding areas. He played piano, organ and guitar while singing and spreading the gospel. He was the pianist for Friendship Baptist Church and Old Oak Grove Baptist Church until his health failed.
In 1971, Odeal and Mary Nell Strickland were united in holy matrimony.
Unto this union two children were born: Odeal Jr. and Adelia. In 1990 Odeal was united with Patricia Glenice Jones and one son was born:
Johnathan, and three bonus children; Kevin, Alexia, and Elyshia.
Odeal was employed by the City of Quitman, and SWACO as a packer until retirement. Odeal is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, his parents, three sisters: Fannie Louise Parks, Catherine Johnson, and Barbara Cooley, one brother, Otis Brown, Jr., and a special cousin (as a brother) Lawrence C. Brown.
He leaves to cherish his memories: three sons: Rev. Odeal Brown Jr. of Pachuta, MS, Johnathan Brown of Hanover, MD and Kevin Jones of Houston, Texas, three daughters: Adelia Brown-McFarland of Columbus, MS, Alexia Hughes of Vossburg, MS, and Elyshia Hughes of Hanover, MD., four sisters: Leola (Wallace) Wiggs of Racine, WI., Maebelle Brown King of Macon, GA, Laura (Jessie) Davis of Paulding, MS and Brenda Jones of Pachuta, MS., one brother-in-law (as a brother), Cecil Cooley, Sr., seven grandchildren: Dwanna, Clinton, Tyric, Kyliegh, Je Marcus, Jalynn, and Jordan, two great-grandchildren:
Gianna and Jah'Karri, five special nephews: Jessie Davis, Jr, Cecil Cooley, Jr, Jammie Brown, Guthrie Brown, and Juan Davis, four special nieces: Wendy Davis, Angela Patterson, Velma Thigpen, and Wanda Brown, a special cousin; Willie Pruitt, a special friend; Patricia Parker, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
