Mrs. Oradell Cole's Obituary
Mrs. Oradell Cole went to rest with the Lord, with family by her side, on October 4, 2021, 4:02 p.m., at Northeast Methodist Hospital, in San Antonio, Texas. Oradell (Mimi) was born on March 6, 1938, to Willie and Ollie (Stennis) Matthews in Bailey of Lauderdale County, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Calvin Cole, her siblings, Samuel Lee McCaleb, Odell Cole, Willie Matthews, Jessie Lee Campbell, and Bertha Mae Walker. At the young ages of 16, and 18, respectively, she married Calvin Cole the love of her life on December 18, 1954, in Meridian, Mississippi. This union produced seven sons, Bennie, Kenny, Leon, David Lee, Calvin, Larry Wayne, and Troy LaRay (deceased). The Cole household was always filled with love, laughter, and discipline. She ensured there was always room for one more. Mimi raised Debra Ann Cole (Hall) from infant until school age, after Troy died in 1963, she took in Emma Jean Walker, after her sister Bertha Mae died in 1972. They always welcomed and made room for nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Oradell was a mother to all who needed her help. Oradell never met a stranger; she was always open and willing to help anyone in need. Mother Cole as she was fondly called at The City of Refuge Christian Church was a member for 34 years. She used her love of sewing to help make costumes for several Christmas productions. She could be counted on to help in any capacity, but her love was singing on the choir which she did for several years. She later became part of the Mother's Board, where she was an inspiration to many. When the church opened its food pantry Mother was quick to help pass out food. When her movement became limited, she still would come and pack all the bags to be given out to those in need. Mother loved the Lord and worked diligently for him. We know she is resting from her labors now and is at peace. She leaves behind to celebrate and cherish her memories; six sons, 28 grandchildren, 3 7 great grandchildren, and nine great great-grandchildren. Countless nieces, nephews, family, and friends that knew her as Momma, Mother Cole, Aunt Oradell, and Mimi. She will be sorely missed. The Matriarch of the family, Mrs. Oradell Cole. Rest in Peace now, you lived a wonderful life.
