Ms. Rhonda Michelle Hill's Obituary
On Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS, there beyond the gate was a light that we could not see, but out Heavenly Father claimed one of His own. Sis. Rhonda Michelle Hill transcended from this dwelling to her eternal home. Rhonda was born to the late Mr. Bobby Hill and Mrs. Bobbie J. Hill on March 30, 1964. Although she was the only child to this union, she never had to play alone. She was surrounded by numerous cousins. Wherever Nita, Curtis, Reggie and Sweet Pea were, Rhonda was in the mix. After four years of living in Chicago, IL her mother returned to Meridian with Rhonda in tote. Her early years were in the Meridian Public School system. She graduated from MeridianHigh School in 1982. Rhonda fondly spoke of her very first job as babysitting for the “Boyd Girls”. She attended Meridian Junior college to pursue a degree in Social Work. After about a year of college, Rhonda accepted a position at East MS State Hospital as a Direct Care Worker were she retired in 2012 after 28 years of service. In 1990, Rhonda became a licensed Cosmetologist, graduating from Moore Career College.
Rhonda developed a personal relationship with God in her youth. She was baptized at the age of 9 under the pastorate of Dr. M.C. Thompson, Sr. of Galilee Baptist Church. She was a faithful and dedicated woman in all facts of her Christian calling. She loved singing in the choir, assisted with the praise dance ministry and she was a teacher for the annual vacation bible school class. Rhonda served as acting secretary of the Warriors Club during its formation.
Rhonda has many friends and never met a stranger. She enjoyed her life. Her laugh and smile was contagious. Her personality was like no other. Her sense of fashion and style was evident in the love of clothes, shoes and purses. She took pride in her beautiful extra long manicured nails. Rhonda loved hard, but did not hesitate to straighten anyone if you stepped out of your lane. She would say “I’m striving everyday to be a better Christian”. Rhonda loved her many little cousins and affectionately gave them signature nicknames. She imparted in each of them with unconditional love.
Lately, the love of her life, her “Punkin”, her “Bug”, her only child, Kwanzaa Imani Hill was her greatest joy. These two were and always will be inseparable. Being Kwan’s mother was her proudest accomplishment. She can rest peacefully with the assurance that her baby is in good hands. As she always said, “what’s understood don’t have to be explained”.
She leaves to mourn her passing and forever cherish her life: her devoted mother, Mrs. Bobbie Hill; her loving daughter, Kwanzaa Hill; (3) goddaughters she adored: Marquita McCoy, Ashly Clayton (Sanchez) and Anjelica Williams-Harris; one (1) half sister, Tonya Williams Hudson and one (1) half brother, Alphonzo “Bubba” Moore; her grandmother, Ollie Louise Johnson; two (2) uncles: Chuck Johnson (Tomika) and L.C. Grant; three (3) aunts: Willie Mae Rackley, Genevia Hill and Berniece Hill; three (3) special cousins: Bertha Mae Trussell, Rita Hill and Ida Mae Croft; a host of other cousins, relatives and friends. Fondly and forever cherish her memory: her devoted best friend: Mrs. Yvonne McCoy Williams and her dearest friend (like a brother) and Kwanzaa’s godfather, Mr. Grady Jennings. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her sweet spirit.
