Mrs. Rich Leen Coleman Sloan's Obituary
Mother Rich Leen Coleman-Sloan was born September 21, 1934 in Hillsboro, MS. She was born to the union of Robert Coleman, Sr. and Ludie Chapman Coleman. She was the third child of twelve children.
Mother Sloan attended and was educated at Long Pilgrim School in Hillsboro, MS.
She moved to Meridian, MS at the age of 19, where she met and married Claude Williams. Later in life after the passing of her first husband, she met Edward Vernon Sloan. They united in Holy Matrimony of February 14, 1980. The Sloan's built their life together in Meridian, MS in which they had several businesses. Mother Sloan was mostly known for their business called VRM Childcare Center. Taking care of children was her passion and she loved and cared for so many newborns and toddlers within her business for over 15 years.
Mother Sloan accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She united with Anderson Temple Church of God in Christ, where she served faithfully for over 50 years. She was a church mother and a prayer warrior.
She conducted and hosted many Thursday Morning Prayer services throughout the years at Anderson Temple and several churched in the community.
Mother Sloan began her Heavenly walk with the Lord at the age of 88 on Friday, July 28, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husbands Claude Williams and Edward Vernon Sloan, and nine (9) siblings.
Mother Sloan leaves to cherish her love and memories her loving and caring children Calvin (Juanita) Williams of Philadelphia, MS and her daughter, Michelle L.Z. Sloan; three (3) stepchildren: Tracy (Carol) Hill, Stacy Hill and Felicia Rue; her grandchildren: Makenzie M. Williams, Morgan M.
Sloan and Madison M. Sloan; a host of step grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two 2) sisters: Edna J. Webster and Addie Z. Vaughan, both of Dayton, OH; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
