Mr. Robbie Lamar Hopson's Obituary
To those who knew him INTIMATELY, he was Dad, Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend ... To those who knew him PERSONALLY he was charming, and good-natured. However, for those who knew him PROFESSIONALLY, his brilliance was at times intimidating, his acumen was unparalleled, yet his deportment was humbling. He was a man of integrity, character, and resolve. On February 5, 1983 in Meridian, MS, Robbie was born to Robert and Mary Hopson. He accepted Christ at a young age and United with Mendon Zion Primitive Baptist Church. After graduating from high school in 2001, Robbie enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country faithfully. Chief Petty Officer Hopson was a SEABEE and a member of a Joint Service Exchange Program. He led Airmen on a troop training project at Columbus AFB; and recently returned from Exercise New Horizons deployment in the Dominican Republic where he was the site superintendent building a school as a part of a nation building project.
His accomplishments in the United States Navy is inclusive of 3rd Petty Officer (March 2003), 2nd Class Petty Officer (September 2004), 1st Class Petty Officer (March 2008), Chief Petty Officer (September 2014), Navy and Marine Corps achievement medal (5 awards) Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Citation, Navy "E" Ribbon (3 awards), Navy Good Conduct Medal (5 awards), National Defense service medal, Global War on terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Humanitarian Service medal (2 awards), Navy See Service Deployment ribbon (5 awards), Navy Rifle Marksmanship ribbon, Seebee Combat warfare insignia device, Expedition Warfare Pin.
Robbie Hopson leaves to cherish his memories: Two children, Reyna Hopson and Jeremiah Hopson; His Parents, Robert and Mary Hopson of Porterville MS; Two sisters, LaToya Hopson of Jackson, MS; Natasha Hopson of Meridian, MS; Four brothers, Rodricus (Kuristy) Hopson of Meridian, MS; Rovontae Hopson of Porterville, MS; Derrick (Jessica) Foy of Porterville, MS and William Compton of York, Alabama. Two nieces: Kaydrien Hopson and Jaylee Hopson. A godson: Jairon Degannes and a best friend that was like a brother -Nyron Degannes, A loving grandmother: Lille Mae Burton, Livingston, AL; 15 aunts, 14 uncles, a host of other relatives and friends who love and will miss him dearly.
