Mr. Robert George Drake, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Robert Drake, Sr. was born on January 31, 1939 to the late Rilla Mae Drake and the late Porter Glover. He departed this earthly life on July 16, 2018 at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, MS. He united in Holy Matrimony to Miss Legurtha Clark on November 28, 1958 and to this union five(5) children were born. He confessed Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Able Missionary Baptist Church in Mound, LA under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Tutte. He worked various jobs throughout his life which included working off shore, Miami Window Pane, Arco Metals and Holiday Inn Express, which is where he retired from after many years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; two (2) brothers, four ( 4) sisters, one (1) brother-in-law, one (1) son: James Henderson and two (2) grandsons: Cedric Drake and Robert Henderson. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 59 years: Mrs. Legurtha Drake; two (2) loving sons: Robert George Drake, Jr. and Larry C. Drake, both of Dallas, TX; three daughters: Gloria Drake (Willie) of Grand Prairie, TX, Angelia Drake of Arlington, TX and Tina Drake Howell (Chris) of Meridian, MS; one (1) step-daughter: Vickie Herlong (Sylvester) of Meridian, MS; one (1) brother Carl Drake of Chicago, IL; four (4) sisters: Jackie Moore of Meridian, MS, Emma McDonald of Chicago, IL, Mary Drake of Tallulah, LA and Hattie Pepper of Chicago, IL; a special friend: Jonas Amerson; seventeen (17) grandchildren, seventeen (17) great-grandchildren, five (5) great great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
