Mr. Robert Earl Pettus Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Robert Earl Pettus was born on Tuesday, August 15, 1944 in Kemper County, Mississippi to the late Arthur and Ruthie Lee Pettus.
On Saturday, December 17, 2022, Robert went to be with the Lord peacefully.
God’s hand had always been on his life. He confessed his faith in Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined Providence Baptist Church Electric Mills, Mississippi until it closed he then united with Bodka Valley Baptist Church where he later became a Deacon for many years until her resigned. He continued to be a faithful member.
Robert began working at a young age at the Dabbs Lumber Company until it closed. He then worked at Midland Manufactory Company for many years. After Midland went out of business, he started to work at James F. Webb Funeral Home for more than 20 years before retiring. Robert later decided he couldn’t sit idle and began working for Kemper County School District for 16 years before retiring for good.
Robert was united in marriage to the late Anna Rose Pettus. To this union, eleven children were born…four of which he raised as his own. Three children preceded him in death: Johnny Lee Grant, Michael Grant and Andre Lazor Pettus. Also, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death: Laura Mae Pettus, Viola Pettus Ivy and James Arthur Pettus.
Robert leaves to cherish his memories: five daughters: Regenna Grant of Marion, MS; Teresa Boyd, Rita Pettus (James), Shirlene (Mark) McCoy; Carla (Butch) White, all of Scooba, MS; four sons: Ellis Lee Grant of Scooba, MS; Robert (Betty) Pettus of Porterville, MS; Jessie Pettus of DeKalb, MS; Carlos Pettus (Cassandra) of Shreveport, LA; one sister, Fannie (Butch) Johns of Nashville, TN; one brother, Johnny B. He loved all his grands, but three of his grandsons he had a close relationship with Derrick (Boot), Delanno (Lanno) and Demonn(Scoota); one grandson he would always call anytime for anything and he would come running to see what Papa needed, Derrick (Mattie) Boyd; one grandson he could count on coming daily since he retired so he would sit on the porch most evenings waiting on him, Demonn Boyd; a special niece whom he loved like one of his own daughters, Ruthann Pettus of Nashville, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends whom he loved dearly.
