Mrs. Rosie Jean Dukes' Obituary
Rosie Jean Dukes was born May 9, 1938 in Lisman, AL, to the late Jeff Bruster Sr. and Ollie Mae Bruster. Mrs. Dukes accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was active in her home church in Meridian, MS. Later she met and married the love of her life Manuel W. Dukes Sr., and from their union 8 children were born. In the early 1960's they moved to Detroit, Ml. to raise and educate the children. During her time there she was very prominent and active in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Additionally, she served faithfully at her church New Birth Missionary Baptist Church of Detroit, Ml. 30 years later they returned to Meridian, MS. to live out their lat-ter years. Mrs. Dukes is well known for her candid comments that would often make people around her laugh. She departed this life and made her heavenly transition on April 1, 2017., She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Manuel Winston Dukes Sr. one son Charlie Bruster, one daughter Linda Fay Dukes, one grandson, four (4) sisters, and two (2) brothers. She leaves to cherish her memories: 3 sons ,Willie Bruster of Lancaster, CA., Manuel Dukes, Jr. (Denise) of Clinton, MD., Jeff Dukes (Marie) of Meridian, MS; 3 daughters Mary Fleming of Detroit, Ml., Rosalyn Lanier and Melissa Grant of Meridian, MS; two (2) sisters, four (4) brothers, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grand-children, and a host of relatives and friends.
