Mr. Roy Lee Cooks' Obituary
Mr. Roy Lee Cooks was born on February 26, 1942 to Ms. Beatrice Harris and Mr. Leroy Cooks. He was reared in Clarke County. He transitioned his life after a lengthy illness on Sunday, August 9th. Roy Lee has always been a quiet person who liked to spend his time with family and never enjoyed large crowds.Although he was a man of few words, there was never any doubt about his love for his family . At some point in his life, he overcame his quiet nature and asked his sweetheart, Mary “Goonie” Mays Cooks for her hand in marriage. To this union, three children were born. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He worked and supported his family in the logging business as long as his health would allow him to. As fate would have it, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his son, Terry Cooks and brother Eddie Lewis Cooks. Because of his love for his family Roy Lee was devastated by each of these loses. Precious memories will forever be held by his sons: Roy Chester (Temeka) Cooks of Monroe, LA; Jerry Charles (Brenda) Cooks of Waynesboro, MS; Brothers: L.C. (Jeanette) Cooks of Washington, D.C; Casanovle Harris of Meridian, MS; Linda Faye Harris of Quitman,an, MS; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and a special friend, Ms. Samantha Wallace.
