Mr. Roy Rush King's Obituary
Roy Rush King, 'Pap', 84, was born in Marion, MS on May 2, 1937. He was the last of 4 children born to Mr. James Eros King and Annie Lee Alma Rush King. He entered heaven's eternal splendor on April 9, 2022 after a hard fought cancer battle. He received his education at Bailey Vocational High School where he enjoyed playing basketball. He held assorted jobs, was a Marion Volunteer Fireman and ultimately retired from the Lauderdale County Road Unit in 2001. On November 10, 1968 he married the love of his life -Sarah Nell Coleman. To this union two children were born: Roy Christopher and Stephanie Irene King. His family was the absolute joy of his life. Roy was a lifelong member of St. Peter United Methodist Church in Marion, MS. Always the funny guy, he was known for his quick jokes and making everyone laugh. People always wanted to be in his presence. He enjoyed morning coffee, listening to Gaither music, road trips and being outdoors either in the garden or sitting on the porch waving at the passerby. He was a gifted woodworker and loved to tinker repairing things around the house. He took great pride in keeping his lawn manicured and his wife's flowers on display. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: John M King (Evelyn Deceased); Arthur James King (Essie -Deceased), Zeno King; sister: Annie Marie Diles (Roosevelt -Deceased); son: Roy Christopher King, sister-in-laws: Blanche Nicholson (Samuel -Deceased), Evelyn Jones (Henderson -Deceased), Lillie ' Coleman and Rene Coleman. Brother in laws: Earnest Coleman, Boner Coleman, Jr, and Able Barrett. He· is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sarah King; daughter, Stephanie King; brother in laws: Richard Coleman, Charles Coleman (Fannie), Norman Coleman (Peggy), Oscar Coleman (Bonnie); sister in law: Mary Alice King, Ora Barrett, Cynthia Diann Willis (Daniel), daughter in law (f rinette King); although not biological: his brother, Bennie Lee "Peter'' Moore and sons: Reggie Horn, Derrick Harris and Chet Parker; granddaughters, Amber Green and Areil Green; great granddaughter Karmyn Morris and great grandson Kooper Morris; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
