Mrs. Ruby Dell Hearn Harris' Obituary
Ruby Dell Hearn Harris was called by many names, such as Big Red, Mama, Mawmaw, Mimi, and Teetee Red. However, none of these names were as sweet as the name Jesus called her: "My Child". On Thursday, May 3, 2018 God called his servant and she answered His call. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. Ruby Dell was born in DeKalb, MS to the late Wes and Daisy Hearn, but lived most of her life in Meridian. She gave her life to Christ early in life at Mt Zion Baptist Church where she served faithfully through the years as a member of Sunday School, the choir, and past president of the young Matrons. Ruby Dell loved her church family and people deeply. She blessed WQIC radio station, Hudnall's Food Store, Dixie Pak-A-Sak, Fred's Dollar Store, and Rush Hospital with her fabulous personality. Ruby was a person that shared her love freely. She gave joy to many and never met a stranger. However, her passion was children. Through the years she went to football, baseball, basketball, and softball games, concerts, plays, and programs to support the ones she loved. Ruby Dell is survived by a daughter, Vickie Ball-Jeffries of Meridian, two granddaughters, Enjoli Nicole Dancy (Marcus) of Virginia, and Elyse Jeffries of Wisconsin, and a great-grandchild Grayson Dancy. She left several cousins but some were closer than most: Mary Florence Hudnall, Naomi Jennings, Katie Stennis and Algene Hearn. Her parents, Wes and Daisy Hearn crossed over into glory before her, along with seven sisters and four brothers. She leaves behind three sisters: Betty Sumler (Columbus GA), Annie White (Detroit, Ml), Ann Hearn (Gulfport, MS), four brothers: Hosea Hearn (Theodia) Cleveland, OH, Robert Hearn (Detroit, Ml), Albert Hearn (Detroit, Ml) and Lamar Hearn (Detroit, Ml). She is also survived by her "Best Friends": Artie Williams, Annette Williams, Florine Smith, Liz Finley, Alice Sloan, Lillie Ball, Annie Adams, and Evelyn Shelby.
