Mrs. Ruby Nora Lang's Obituary
Ruby Nora “Mama Ruby” Horne Lang, age 107 got her wings on Friday morning, February 16, 2018. She was born as Ruby Nora Horne on August 16, 1910 to Clem Horne and Mary Anderson Horne in Clarke County, Mississippi.
She was the eighth child of ten, and her siblings included Reginald Horne (Annie), Ada Horne (Ed) Trotter, Willie Ann (Bill) Horne, Dora “Pig” Horne ( Fred) McClendon, Clem Horne, Lettie Horne (Ed) Adams, Freddie (Minnie) Horne, Stewart “Possum” (Essie) Horne and Buddy Horne (died as a youth, at an early age). They have all preceded her in death. Also, preceded her in death- grandson, Lee Lang and granddaughter, Pamela Lang, a great-grandson, Tever Lazar Scarbrough. Ruby grew up in Clarke County and at an early age she found Christ and joined Mt. Levy United Methodist Church. After years of living in Clarke County she moved to Meridian, MS, where she lived until she was called home to be with the Lord.
Ruby married Willie Lang and to this union five children were born. Her son, Mae C. (Edna Mae) lang preceded her in death. For a while she worked for Meridian Public School at Mt. Barton Elementary School. Later she would go to work for the Myles Davidson Family as a Domestic Worker and caring for two lovely young ladies who loved her dearly. She was affectionately called Mama Ruby after several grandchildren and everyone that heard of her (neighborhood or not) called her “Mama Ruby”. She was definitely a Christian and a virtuous woman. She feared rage Lord with all of her heart. She believed in treating everyone right, which she attributed that to her longevity of 107 1/2 years on this Earth. Mama Ruby loved her home cooking and sharing it with anyone who would come by (Family or Friends) or anyone in need of food.
She leaves to carry on her legacy her three daughters, Maxine “Sue” Lewis (Inkster, MI), Willie G. “Doll” Lang (Meridian, MS), Betty Jean “Bett” Lang (Quitman, MS); one son, A.C. “Porter” (Johnnie B. -Deceased) Lang (Meridian, MS).
