Sammie Chambliss, Jr. was born to Sammie and Maggie Chambliss on January 14, 1949 in Meridian, MS. He was the 2nd oldest of 6 children. As a child, Sammie, his parents and siblings moved to California where he graduated from Edison High School and later attended Delta College. Sammie later became a Correctional Officer for San Quentin Prison. He worked as a Correctional Officer until his retirement in 1985. after retirement, he moved back to Meridian, MS where he resided until his passing. He was very passionate abou try, his church and driving the church van.
Sammie was preceded in death by his parents, Sammie and Maggie Chambliss. Sammie leaves to mourn his passing: his significant other, Jessie Holliday; 5 sisters, Bertha Chambliss, Glori Ann McCoy, Judy Amos, Dorothy Chambliss and Glenda Chambliss; his brother, Frankie Chambliss; 5 daughters, Rashonda Chambliss, Samantha Chambliss, Latonya Chambliss, Shanelle Pagan and Lakisha Alexander; 1 step daughter, Sylvia Holliday; 19 grandkids, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
