Mr. Samuel Anderson's Obituary
On Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Ochsner Rush Health Hospital in Meridian, MS God called one of his angels, Samuel Anderson, to his heavenly home. Samuel graced this world on July 10, 1938 to George Wesley and Renner McCaleb Anderson in Kemper County, MS. He is preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers: John Richard, Willie James and William Dee; three sisters: Leslie, Lillie Ruth and Annie Mae; one daughter, Melissa Anderson.
Samuel was educated in the Little Rock school system in Dekalb, MS where he graduated as Salutatorian of his class. In 2013, he met a beautiful woman named Linda Sue Curry McGowan and they dated for 2 years. On January 25, 2015, he united in holy matrimony to Linda and they enjoyed 7 years of marital bliss together, loving each other. He served faithfully at Unity Springs Baptist Church in Dekalb, MS as an Usher where his motto was the scripture in Psalms 84:10 “I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Samuel was a dedicated employee of Meridian Public School and retired in 2008 with 38 years of service to the district. He worked for many years as custodian at Meridian High School and was serving as Head Custodian at Marion Park upon his retirement.
He enjoyed sitting in his favorite chair watching westerns, classic TV shows and the news. He also enjoyed sitting on the back porch watching the birds daily. He was a caring and giving person. His family was very important to him. He always wanted his family to come together and fellowship. Children had a special place in his heart and he wanted to teach them the importance of morals and values.
Samuel leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted and loving wife, Linda Anderson; daughter, Shirley Clark; step-daughter, Brandi McGowan; grandchildren: Dominique McCoy, Ashleigh McGowan, Jonathan Tinsley, Cayden Houseton and Kayla Houseton; and a host of other family members.
