Mrs. Sharon Marie Gray Betts Hamler's Obituary
Sharon Hamler was born on April 7, 1950, in Lauderdale County, MS to the late Geraldine Gray and Frank Calloway. She was a 1968 graduate of Middleton High School in Meridian, MS. Sharon continued her education at Matty Hersee School of Nursing in 1983 while working as a Sears Roebuck sales associate. After receiving her nursing degree, she worked for Meridian Regional Hospital (1984-85) and East Mississippi State Hospital (1987). Sharon went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi College for Women and her Master of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Sharon joined the staff of Greater Meridian Health Clinic, Inc. August, 1987. There she served as Director of Nursing and Compliance Officer until she retired May 2017. Sharon was an active charter member of The National Association of Buffalo Soldiers & Troopers. She rode her Harley Davidson and did philanthropic work in the community with the NABST Meridian Chapter. Some notable endeavors of the Club are Feed by Faith and Love Kitchen charities. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 30 years, William Hamler, her son Jason Jakari Betts of Meridian, MS; five grandchildren; two granddaughters, Jakharriea K. Betts and Saciyaah A. Mosley, and three grandsons; Jason Jakari Betts Jr., Jaivien Levverrete, and Jaivion Hopson all of Meridian, MS; her sister Mary Gray of Meridian, MS and her brother Willie James Gray (Hattie). In addition, Sharon leaves a large community of family members, special friends, colleagues, and associates to cherish her memoirs.
