Mr. Sherrod Brookins Jr.'s Obituary
Sherrod Brookins Jr. transitioned to spend eternity with out Heavenly Father on July 22, 2021 at St. Mary Hospital in Livonia, Michigan. Sherrod was born in Savoy, MS on September 24, 2944 to the late Bertha Hunter Brookins and Sherrod Brookins Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Dessie Ree Jennings and Gertrude Williams; three brothers: William Brookins, Raymond Brookins and Roosevelt Brookins.
Sherrod received his early education at Dubose School in Savoy and spent high school years at TJ Harris High in Meridian, MS. As a child, he confessed his life to Christ and joined Poplar Springs in Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jack Graham..
Sherrod married the late Georgia Lewis Brookins. Shortly afterwards, the couple relocated to Detroit, Michigan and to this union one child was born: Sherrod Brookins III. Sherrod Jr was a dedicated employee of Ford Motor Company , where he retired after 30 years of devoted service. As life would dictate, he later married the late Josie Wilson Brookins.
Sherrod was a humble and giving soul and will be loved and missed by many. He leaves to cherish his precious memory: one son, Sherrod Brookins III of Detroit, MI; three sisters:Clarice McDade (Dewey) and Vernacile Brookins from Meridian, MS; and Carolyn Clark of Athens, GA; two brothers: Harold Brookins (Etta), and Eugene Brookins (Aquanetta) all from Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss him dearly.
