Mrs. Sherry Lynn Hunter's Obituary
On Wednesday, December 21, 2022, our precious wife, mother, sister, auntie, niece, cousin and friend, Sherry Lynn Hunter, transitioned at her residence and silently received her heavenly wings. She is now resting from her labor to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Sherry was born on December 2, 1952, here in Meridian, MS, the sixth child of the late Rev. and Mrs. Cecil Bernard Scarbrough, Sr (Nora). She was educated and graduated from Meridian Senior High School and Meridian Junior College. Sherry married the love of her life Bobby James Hunter, and raised their son, Bobby, and daughter, April Hunter, in loving care.
At an early age, Sherry accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, and was baptized and continued to honor Him throughout her life. She attended 31st Avenue Baptist Church until she married and traveled to support her husband as a military spouse on various military tours. Sherry’s working career consisted of managing the Gymnasium in Kaiserslautern, Germany and retired from the state of Mississippi.
Sherry attended church faithfully until her health prevented her from doing so. She was a loving and Godly woman who listened to Gospel music and loved watching Christian movies and her westerns. She loved outdoor sports and family outings, such as playing softball and making jewelry, and she enjoyed baking. She made fantastic pound cakes and enjoyed talking to people about family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and one sibling, Willie Iznes Henderson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Bobby James Sr.; a son, Bobby Jameson, Jr.; and a daughter, April Hunter; four sisters, Rosetta Riser, Carolyn A. Dawson, Sheila M. Young, and Zenith C. Turner (Ron); three brothers: Thomas Marshall, (Shirley), Cecil Bernard (Linda) and Chris Darnell Scarbrough; an uncle, Earl Scarbrough (Lucy); aunts: Mary Alice King and Pearl Love; grandchildren (Corliss and DeAndre Hunter, Akira Martin and Azaria Myers); great-granddaughter, Armani; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
