Shirley Marie Miller Hopson was born July 9, 1955 to Rosie Lee Bennett and Johnny Bordeaux in Lauderdale, Mississippi where she attended Northeast School. Shirley lived in Lauderdale, Mississippi until 1998 then she moved to Meridian, Mississippi. Shirley was an outgoing person. She lived her life to the fullest while confessing to Christ and united with New Beginning Church of Meridian where she served faithfully until her health failed. Shirley joined hands with Robert Hopson and was united as one. Shirley had a passion for cooking and going fishing was one of her favorite pass times.Shirley was born with a green thumb for gardening. Shirley was willing to give her precious hand when it was needed or whenever she just felt like someone was in need. Shirley loved spending time with her husband, daughter, grandchildren and friends talking, making you laugh and brightening up everyone’s day. Shirley was very outspoken, didn’t mind telling you how she felt and she will be truly missed.
Proceeded in death by her mother, Ms. Rosie Lee Bennett; father Johnny Bordeaux; two brothers, Johnny Walker and John Bell; son Arthur James Bennett; and one grandson Chris’shod Ruttley.
She leaves behind her husband Robert Hopson; daughter Yvonne Miller; three sisters Sue Ann Mosley and Johnny Lee Mosley, brother-in-law, Rosetta Sumrall, Rosie Mary King; one brother, Johnny Lee Bordeaux, all of Lauderdale, Mississippi; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; devoted God-son Damon Bodley; God-daughter Priscilla Holcombe, and special friend Hazel Brassfield.
