Mrs. Shirley Renee Nicholson's Obituary
Shirley Renee Hill Nicholson, was born to Mrs. Minnie Hill Friend and Mr. Willie Hill on September 5, 1959 in Meridian, MS. She was the fourth daughter and baby girl of the family. Her immortal transformation occurred early Tuesday morning, June 23, 2020 at Anderson Hospital in Meridian. From a child and throughout her life, Shirley was always joyful and had a smile that would light up a room. She was appropriately nicknamed by her first babysitter, "SweetThang". She was affectionately called by her family Renee or "Nay." At a very young age, Shirley joined the family church of St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. William Charles Griffin, Sr. Along with her sisters and cousins, she attended regularly and was involved in the Youth activities. As an adult, Shirley later united with 5th Street Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. William C. Brown. She was a faithful member and attended regularly until her limitations of mobility. Shirley was educated in the Meridian Public School System and graduated from Meridian High in 1977. She attended Meridian Community College. Shirley's places of employment included AT&T/BellSouth and A&B Electric, Answering Service where worked as a supervisor. Shirley met Lonnie Nicholson, Jr. and they were married in 1996 and she gained two stepchildren Latoyia Scott and Reggie Davis, all of whom are left to cherish her memories. Shirley was predeceased by her mother and father; sisters, Sarah Elizabeth Hill Hampton in 1996; Cathy Bernice Hill on June 20, 2020; nephew and god-son, Travis Orlando Hill and her loving aunt, Mrs. Bernice Humphrey Wilson. Those who cherish her memories are her devoted eldest sister, Carol Ann Hill Clayton, Meridian, MS; cousin (sister) Rev. Edwinna Wilson Davis, Cincinnati, OH; nephew and god-son, Rodrico Donshay (Jeanette) Hill, Forest; niece and god-daughter, Veronica Elaine Hampton, Biloxi; other god children included Brandon Miller, Ashley S Green, Santonio Brooks and Do'Nazia Terrell a bountiful blessing of many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a very strong Reece Courts/East End family. Shirley loved to love on other people and to see them happy. Her beautiful smile, commanding, yet affectionate voice and jovial laughter will be sincerely missed by all who knew and loved her.
