Mr. Simmie Lee Rice's Obituary
Simmie Lee Rice, was born January 21, 1940 to the Late William and Julia Mae Rice. He united with Poplar Springs Baptist Church at an early age. Simmie Lee served faithfully at Sunday School, on the Usher Board, and as a church trustee just to name a few. He loved giving, he would testify every Sunday of the goodness of God in his life. Simmie was called home on Sunday May 3, 2020, at home with his wife and children by his side. He was preceded in death by his father William J. Rice, one brother, Govan Rice and one sister, Betty Higginway and one grandson, Nino Warren. Memories of Simmie will linger and be cherished forever in the hearts of: his mother Julia Mae Rice, His loving and devoted wife: Ella J, Chandler Rice of which they shared 54 years in holy matrimony. One daughter; Veronica (Robert) Anderson, 2 sons: Terry Lee and Gary Lee Rice. 3 Devoted Grandsons; Simmie Le_e (Brittany) Rice 11,Jacolby D (Shyniqua) Rice and Robert L. Anderson. 2 Lovely granddaughters: Robinn Anderson and Mya Rue, all of Meridian, MS. Two Brothers: Willie L (Fannie) Rice, Willie Frank (Edna) Rice. Seven sisters: Evangelist Rose Brown, Mable (Cleveland) Stringfellow, Ida B. Delk, Annie B. (Cleo) Gaddis, Pastor Pearl (Bishop Dennis) Huggins. All of Meridan, MS. Minister Dorothy (Silas) Dickson, Oakwood Village, Ohio and Patricia Jones of Bedford High and a special friend he called "the chicken lady" Carmen Campbell
