Mr. Stacey Gavins' Obituary
Stacey Jermaine Gavins was born January 9, 1976, to Laura Jane Gavins and the late Ray Charles Burks and in Meridian, Mississippi. He was baptized at an early age at St. Mary Baptist Church under the leadership of his grandfather, Reverend Pastor Tony Burks. Stacey was educated in the Meridian Public School District.
Stacey was a spontaneous and mischievous little boy. He loved adventures and got into any and everything. On any given day, you could find him, his uncle, Chicko and auntie, Marces, riding their big wheels from South Side to Western Gardens.
Stacey had many friends and family that loved him dearly.
He was the life of any party and knew how to have a good time. He loved his children dearly and he was so proud to be a grandfather. His life spoke for itself. In his last days, his words to his mother were 'Life doesn't owe me anything, I have lived my life to the fullest'.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Lloyd Gavins; his father, Ray Charles Burks; paternal grandfather, Tony Burks; paternal grandmother, Daphine Burks;
and two cousins, Danitra Evans and Hikeem D. Williams.
On Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, Stacey peacefully entered into eternal rest.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children Shakevia Rush, Eric Odom, Zya Gavins, Sha' Breon Palmer, Laprecious Gavins, Marquez Hardy, Ja' Stacia Burton, and Queen; his mother, Laura Jane Gavins; special father, Eddie Whitehead (King); grandmother, Hilda Ruth Keyes, grandfather, Charlie Evans, eight grandchildren; one brother, Torre Clark; one special son, his dog
"Jock"; and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins in the Keyes, Evans, and Burks families; and a host of friends who will miss him dearly.
Although his time with us was brief, his impact will last for generations.
May he rest in eternal peace.
