Mrs. Sylvia Beatrice Harbin's Obituary
Sylvia Beatrice Payton Harbin was born in Meridian, Mississippi, on October 19, 1957, to the late Clarence Payton and Louvenia Coleman Payton. She was the sixth of twelve children born to this union.
Sylvia grew up in Chicago, IL, where she attended Englewood High School. She later moved back to Meridian, where she found her passion and purpose, dedicating much of her career to working in the medical field.
Sylvia confessed her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age.
Throughout her life, she always stood firm in her faith. She was a devoted member of the Fitkins Memorial Church of the Nazarene, serving on the Usher Board until her health declined.
Sylvia united in holy matrimony to Harold (JJ) Harbin whom she shared 30 wonderful years. This union was blessed with two chil-dren, Brandon and Courtney.
Sylvia loved her family, always making them the center of her life.
She loved traveling and spending quality time with her family. She was a compassionate advocate for people and enjoyed volunteering in her community.
God called Sylvia to eternal rest on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Larry Payton, Diane Payton Jenkins, Ricky Payton, Tyree Payton, and Tyrone Payton.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Harold; two sons, Brandon Harbin and Courtney Harbin both of Meridian, MS; two sisters, Beverly Payton Willis of Rowlett, TX and Carolyn June Payton of Meridian, MS, four brothers, Kenneth Payton (Evelyn) of Chicago, IL, Gary Payton (Flora) of Meridian, MS, Stanley Payton (Hattie) of Houston, TX, and Steve Payton (Brenda) of Meridian, MS.
She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Sylvia's warmth, compassion, and faithfulness touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed but forever loved.
