Mrs. Symerian Tyson's Obituary
Symerian Tyson was Born December 20th, 1931 to Rev. Matthew Jenkins Jr. and Armetta Mosley-Jenkins. She was raised and educated in Meridian Mississippi, in a Christian home environment and confessed her faith in Christ with the Antioch Baptist Church. She moved to New York in 1952 with her sister Cordelia, and gave birth to Ralph Angelo Jenkins in 1953. In 1955 she married George Howard Tyson, and later gave birth to daughter Miriam Annette Tyson in 1966. She worked in the New York City Public School System for over 35 years, retiring in 1998 from PS134 George Bristow Elementary in Bronx, New York. She served on the Bronxdale Houses Community Board and was an unofficial spokesperson for Watson Car Service. She was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. Torrence Robinson. Symerian loved her family, shopping from the Home Shopping Network, and ordering snacks she shouldn't have through the mail. She will forever be remembered by: Her Six Siblings: Cordelia Gilford, Annie Viria Pollard, Helen Jenkins, Martha Carter, Matthew L. Jenkins Sr., and Rev. Melvin T. Jenkins Sr.; Daughter: Miriam Annette Tyson; Grand Children: Alaina Jenkins-Walker (spouse Johnny Walker, children Alisha t Walker and Ava Walker), Nique Jenkins-Mitchell (spouse Le'Seth Mitchell, fur-child Trinity Jenkins-Mitchell), Alberto Gutierrez Ill ( child Laila Amor Gutierrez); Daughter-In-Law: Paulette Jenkins; and all of the family and loved ones she held dear
