Mrs. Theola Douglas' Obituary
Sister Theola Douglas was born to the late Earl Cater and Josephine Bonner Carter on February 25, 1927. She departed this life on Monday, January 7, 2019 at her residence in Quitman, MS at 6 p.m.
Sister Theola confessed a hope in Christ at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Quitman, MS. She served for the church as Adult Sunday School Teacher, Women’s Auxiliary Mission Member and a strong supporter of the First Enterprise District Association. Also, Sister Douglas loved to sing Old Hymns.
She had a talent for baking cakes, sewing, and styling hair.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-son Earnest Douglas, Jr. and eleven siblings, Willie Dozier Carter, Roman Carter, Magnolia Carter Atterberry, Elnora Carter Strickland, Collins Carter, Cothell Carter, Mosell Carter, Inell Carter Hearn, Aaron Carter, George Carter and Sarah Carter Morgan.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter Floudia Mae West Bradley of Quitman, son Willie E. West (Linda) of Quitman and Step-son Elijah (Mickey) Douglas (Cassandra) of Birmingham, AL; 9 grandchildren: Myneko Broadhurst and Deanna Cruz of Maryland, Tonicka Mayfield of Louisiana, Justin West of Georgia, Marcel Douglas of Wisconsin, Lorraine, Kevonte, Shavonia and Andrea Douglas all of Chicago, IL; 14 great grandchildren who were the joy of her life, and six great-great grands. Additionally, she leaves a host of nieces and nephews. Special recognition and thanks are extended to the six nieces Evelyn Hearn Harper, Alice Hearn, Martha Hearn, Pamela Manning, Diane Manning and Ebonie Hearn all of Meridian, MS for their steadfast and loving support of nightly hospital and home stay for their aunt Theola.
