Mr. William "Junior" Gully's Obituary
William “Junior” Gully, age, 81, was born in Boyd, Al to the late Marie Gully Hutchinson and Herbert Porter on June 25, 1936. He received his formal education through the Sumter County Alabama School System.
William, affectionately known to his brothers and sisters as Junior, attended Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Boyd, AL and accepted Christ as his personal savior at a young age. He later rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized at the age of 64. He was an avid lover of quartet style Gospel music and sang with a gospel quartet during his youth.
Junior moved to Lauderdale, MS and found work hauling pulpwood. He later moved to Meridian, MS and made that his permanent home. He worked for the City of Meridian Water Department for 33 years. He retired on April 1, 1994 and spent his time enjoying his grandkids, sitting around talking with his friends and sitting on his front porch.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Mrs. Rosie Gully; five daughters, LaVesha (Stephen) Sharp, Aretha Ward and Margie Ward, all of Meridian, MS; Evelyn (Billy) Lewis of Indian Head Park, IL; Martha (Roger) Calfee of Anderson, IN; a son, Billie Ward of Meridian, MS; three brothers, Alfonso Hutchinson and Floyd Hutchinson of Brewerfield, AL; Willie Joe Hutchinson of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters: Linda Faye (Robert) Lee and Loretta Hutchinson of Dayton, OH; three grandsons, five granddaughters, a very special cousins, Willie Brown (cuz), a host of great grandkids, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mom, dad, stepfather, Willie Hutchinson, grandmother, Minnie Porter, two brothers, Lovell and Benjamin Hutchinson, and a son, Robert (Cisco) Ward
