Mr. William Jeff Irby, Sr.'s Obituary
William Jeff Irby, Sr. was born on April 1, 1942 in Meridian, MS. to the parents of Mr. J.C. Irby and Ms. Annie Kate Cole. He graduated from T.J. Harris High School as well as T.J. Harris Junior College. He is also a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University. Within the community, he has held various employment positions that include project manager at the Meridian Housing Authority, Star Inc. (GED program instructor) at St. Joseph Catholic School, teacher for the Meridian Public School District, machine operator at General Motors/Delco Remy, and direct care staff member for the adolescent complex at East Mississippi State Hospital. In his early age, he accepted Christ and became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he remained for many years. He was always known for being an active person and friendly face within the community. He coached several football and baseball teams through Parks & Recreation. At an early age, he discovered and united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Mrs. Bettie Ann Irby. They shared 50 wonderful years of marriage together. To this union, four children were born. He was an excellent husband, a great family man, and a terrific father. When he was not occupied with family functions, he was often noted gardening, working on vehicles, using his tools to build things, or watching football. He was greatly fascinated by world events, the news, and weather. Mr. William Jeff Irby Sr. was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed by family andfriends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. J.C. Irby and Ms. Annie Kate Cole. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Bettie Ann Irby, a son, William Jeff (Penny) Irby Jr., 3 daughters, Roshundia (Roy) McKenzie, Chante' Irby, Rolanda Irby-Pace, grandchildren, Eric Irby, Brittney McKenzie, Calvin C.J. Hampton, Antoneus Johnson, Missy Bingham, Victoria Irby, Kiersten Hampton, Jazmine Pace, Jaylon Pace, many family members and friends.
