Mrs. Willie Jean Ellerby's Obituary
Willie's life began October 8, 1950, in DeKalb, Mississippi. She was the fourth child, out of 10 children born to the union of the late Mr. Johnny Jim and Mrs. Bunnie Jean Boyd. Willie accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age at Brown Ridge Baptist Church. She later became a Minister of Christ. Willie’s passage of life Home was completed at Jeff Anderson Memorial Hospital in Meridian, MS on October 22, 2015. Willie graduated in the top 5 percent of her class at Whisenton High School in 1969. She was homecoming queen of Whisenton High School in 1969. She later earned a four-year scholarship to attend Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS. She graduated with honors in 1973 from Alcorn State University with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Elementary Education. Willie also attended Meridian Junior College and graduated in 1971 . Willie married the love of her life on January 8, 197 4, and united in Holy Matrimony to Willie C. Ellerby. To this union, two children were born. Willie further pursued her education by obtaining various certificates and an additional degree, a certificate from the American Association of Medical Personnel of Oklahoma City in 1995; a certificate from the Registered Medical Associate in 1992; a license phlebotomist in 1991; and an honorary degree in medical assistant from Moore Career College in 1990, Meridian, MS. She was also a member of the Heroines of Jericho (Queen Esther Court #27). In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she worked for Kemper county Hospital in DeKalb, MS; Prime Line in Scooba, MS; Stay-Home Health Agency in Meridian, MS; a daycare center in DeKalb, MS; a glove factory in Lynville, MS; US Motors in Philadelphia, MS; and a Sunday school teacher, secretary, and choir member at the Brown Ridge Baptist Church. Willie leaves a legacy of love and memories to her family. She leaves to cherish her memories, a husband of 41 years, Willie C. Ellerby (DeKalb, MS); two children: Orlando R. Ellerby (DeKalb, MS); and Roxann T. Ellerby (Ray) Williams, Jr. (Meridian, MS). She leaves behind five sisters: Rose (Horace) McDowell, Frances Davis, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; Mary (Harry) Mobley, Carrie Boyd, all of DeKalb, MS; and Diana (Gene) Powell, Maryland; and one brother: Frank (Janice) Boyd of Philadelphia, MS. Two grandchildren's, a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and other relatives and friends.
