Mr. Willie Pernell McKenzie's Obituary
Willie Pernell McKenzie was born on June 27, 1975, in Meridian, MS, to Willie L. and Neldia Rose McKenzie. He was the third son of four children.
Daniel McKenzie preceded him in death.
Pernell joined Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church of Quitman, MS, at an early age, where he served as a faithful member and the church musician.
Pernell received his formal education in the Quitman Public School District and graduated from Quitman High School, May 1994. He owned and operated McKenzie & Son Construction. He was an entrepreneur working as a professional carpenter and lawn care specialist. He was just and an over-all professional handyman.
Pernell served as a gifted musician for many churches over the years; but during his final years, he served here at his home church. Oh, how he enjoyed playing songs for his mother and others!
In his leisure time, Pernell enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, listening to music, fishing, and relaxing. His signature smile, his love, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have shared a part of their lives with him. To know him was to love him!
Willie Pernell departed his earthly life on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Ochsner Watkins Hospital, Quitman, MS.
