Mr. Willie Cole Smith's Obituary
Willie "Wu" Cole Smith was born to the late Willie Petterson and Lula Amerson on December 23, 1949 in Meridian, Mississippi.
Willie visited numerous church's throughout the years, but later in life became a member of Hope of Glory Family & Friends Christian Center, Meridian, MS. He worked many years at News Restaurant before retiring.
Willie was blessed with the love of his life, Bettie Louise Nash, whom he shared five beautiful children.
Everyone that knew Wu, knew that he was always a hard working, family man. He loved everyone and was loved by everyone. His mother, Lula, taught him how to play the piano at a young age. He always had an ear for music which lead him to become a poplar DJ known as "Howlin Wolf" of the Queen City.
Willie was an avid fisherman, it was his peaceful place. On any given day, you could find him on a bank fishing with a loaf of bread. His family always thought of him as fish GPS. Whenever fishing with others, if no one else caught a fish, Willie would definitely get a bite. It was truly his life, love, joy, happiness and his destiny of harmony until the end.
Willie's memory will forever live in the hearts of his five children, Tyronsa Nash, Amanda Nash (Adrione), Christopher Nash (Angeline), Willie Nash, and Anthony Nash; his bonus son, Ernest (Cynthia) Clark, Sr.; fourteen grandchildren; his siblings, Edna Pickens, Lanesia Cole, Elizabeth Cole Ramsey, Lanier Essix, Gene Cole and Roderick Cole; his friend and companion of 20 years, Terry Dixon; the entire Clark family as well as a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his forever love, Betty L.
Nash; his grandmother, Lula Amerson; and his siblings, Lula Mae Cole Ward, Gladys Wyatt, Jennifer Cole, Grady Cole, and Gerald Peterson.
