Mr. Willie James Smith's Obituary
Willie James Smith was born to the lat Elijah Walter Smith and Corean Thompson Smith on July 21, 1943 in Hickory, MS. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Louise Baskin Smith, sister Wanita Watts, brother, Theron Thompson, two grandchildren; Antron and Erica Smith. Willie James Smith was married to Annie Louise Baskin Smith on March 23, 1964 and unto this union was born five children: Carol Ellis, Linda Joyce Smith, Amanda Smith, Willie James (Cynthia) Smith, Jr. and Walter Smith.
Brother Smith was known as a joyful, peaceful, loving and spiritual minded person. He was baptized at an early age in Meridian, MS. His church activities included President of the Usher Board, former Sunday School Superintendent, member of the deacon board and finance committee.
He leaves to cherish his memories: three daughters, two sons, six sisters: Annie Hearn (Meridian, MS), Bobbie Curry, Sue (Johnny) Barnes, Deloris (Sam) Taylor, Dorothy Smith (all of Gulfport, MS) and Evelyn Croff (Moultrie, GA), four bothers: Walter Lee, Ricky, Donnie and Elijah W. Smith Jr.; a step mother, Johnnie Mae Smith (all of Gulfport, MS), sister-in-law, Joyce Fox (Meridian, MS), brother-in-law, AJ (Dorothy) Baskin (Meridian, MS) and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
