Mrs. Windy Kay Hairston's Obituary
Windy K. Hairston, 61 of Meridian, MS was born on February 18, 1960. She was the fourth child born to Ozie Lee and Mary Lee Townsend. She was preceded in death by both parents. Windy is survived by two daughters Beverly Townsend (Meridian, MS), Andreal Hairston (Hattiesburg, MS) and one son, Bowen Hairston (Lufkin, TX). , Windy transitioned from "death to life" on December 2, 2021 surrounded by her family at Rush Hospital, after a devastating battle with cancer. Windy surrendered her life to the Lord Jesus Christ in her later adult life. She was quiet, humble and feared the Lord. She frequently expressed "everybody needs to get to know Jesus." Windy could be found every morning at 5:30am sitting at her kitchen table with her Bible, and in prayer. She will be remembered as a devoted loving mother, sister and grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her. Windy was employed at Rush Foundation Hospital for 24 years. Surviving in addition to her children, are her siblings, two sisters, Bettie L. McCarty (Billie-Madison, MS), Dorothy Ann Wright (Louis - Jacksonville FL), and one brother Ozie Townsend Jr (Letha - (Meridian, MS). She leaves behind eight grandchildren. Shae'nardria Townsend, Tonderean Townsend, Amarria Langston, Brooklyn Cross, Quelyn Hairston, Emorion Hairston, Tai'veon Hairston, Khaleesi Hairston, three great grandchildren, and her dear friend and caregiver Mr. William Earl Rice, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncle, and aunt.
