Mr. Zeno King, Sr.'s Obituary
Zeno King, Sr. “Doke” was born on March 7, 1931 to Mr. and Mrs. James Eros King in Marion, Mississippi. He joined St. Peter United Methodist Church at an early age. He remained a faithful member at St. Peter for the remainder of his life.
Zeno. Sr. attended school at T.J. Harris. He worked at WS Dickey Clay Pipe Company for 30 years. After this, he began working for the Maintenance Department with Meridian Public School District. he retired after working there for many years. On March 31, 1956, Zeno married his childhood sweetheart Mary Scarbrough “Nan”. To this union, nine children were born.
Zeno. Sr. absolutely loved singing in the choir and male chorus at church and enjoying his family. Zeno Sr. entered into external rest on Tuesday, July 8, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by: his parents, James and Lee-Alma King; his sister, Annie Marie Diles; his brother, John M. King; and his daughter, Sandra Marie King-Young.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his lovely wife, Mary Alice King (Meridian, MS); two brothers, Arthur King (Bailey, MS), Ray (Sarah) King (Marion, MS); four sons: Richard (Linda) King (San Francisco, CA), Zeno (Deborah) King Jr. (Highland, CA); Gene King (Meridian, MS), James (Melanie) King (Desoto, TX); four daughters: Sylvia (John) Cole (Meridian, MS), Marilynn (Macadoo) Barnett (Meridian, MS), Kathy (billy) Ruffin (Marion, MS), Pamela King-Odom (Marion, MS); 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and St. Peter United Methodist Church family who will miss him dearly.
