Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Florence Ramsey, will be held Monday, September 11, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1914 18th Avenue, Meridian, MS at 11:00 a.m. Visitation with her family will be at the OP Chapel of Berry and Gardner Funeral Home on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 4-5 p.m.
Mrs. Annie F. Ramsey, age 94, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, September 3, 2023, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Meridian, MS at Anderson Hospital on January 25, 1929, to the late Mr. Oscar and Mrs. Clara Mae Lewis. She was a faithful member of St. joseph Catholic Church.
She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Meridian in 1946 and Xavier University in New Orleans, LA in 1959.
Mrs. Ramsey was a retired educator whose career spanned 35 years and concluded at Meridian High School.
She served on several boards and was a member of many organizations including Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and was a life member of the NAACP. In 1982 she won The Meridian Star Cookbook Grand Prize Award for her New Orleans Gumbo recipe.
She is survived by four (4) children: Carol Tureaud Dean; Edward P. Tureaud, (Synthia); Adrian Tureaud Mosley (Edward) and Jeffrey Ramsey, Jr. and from Meridian. She had ten grandchildren: Gabriel Shack; Kama Shack Manuel; April Morris; Ashton T. Strachan; Lauren T. Porter; Edward Royce Mosley; Justin Lewis Mosley; Victoria Clare T. Mosley, Jeffery T. Ramsey, III; Jasmine Ramsey and twelve great grandchildren.
