Mr. Howard E. Ellis' Obituary
Edward Ellis was born on August 24, 1953 to the late Mary Susie Dudley-Burge and John Edward Ellis in Meridian, Mississippi. At a young age, he attended St. James AME Church in Meridian, MS. He was a 1971 graduate of Meridian Senior High School. Howard worked at Anderson Hospital for many years. Later, he became a valued employee of McRae's Department Store where he worked until retirement. After relocating to California, he worked at Amtrack, Giants Coliseum and Lawrence Livermore. As an adult, Howard enjoyed visiting North Park Church and Russell Temple Church of God in Christ. Howard was an avid sports fan. His favorite NFL team was the Dallas Cowboys. He also often cheered for the Alabama Crimson Tide, Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs. On February 21, 2023, Howard Edward Ellis entered the gates of Heaven. Those left to cherish his 1:1emory are his children Cedric LaShun Ellis (Angie) of Clinton, MS, Antonio Edward Ellis (Sonja) of Birmingham, AL, Natichia Labell Ellis (Vernell) of Meridian, MS, and Shuntae Terell Ellis (Toya) of Jacksonville, NC; sisters: Peggy Norman, Barbara Ann King (George), and Sandra Ellis (Melvin); brothers: Michael Ellis (Ceal), William Ellis (Debbie), John Ellis, Jr., and Lee Ellis; a special niece: Shay Duncan; special friends: Deacon Joe Penry, Harold Brassfield, Terry Foy, Elder Timothy McSwain, Elder James Monroe, Jim Feirtag, and Donna Wheatly; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Mary Alpha Boyd, Brenda Gordon and Johnnie Pearl Ellis; brothers: Robert Ellis, Fernandez Ellis and Johnny Marvin Ellis; maternal grandmother: Lela Dudley; paternal grandmother: Ada Ellis and aunt: Florence Butler.
