Mr. Marcus J. Thornton's Obituary
Marcus J. Thornton, 40, of Meridian, Mississippi, transitioned Saturday, July 11, 2020, in Atlanta Georgia. Marcus was born to Frederick and Michele Thornton, June 11, 1980 in Jackson, Mississippi. Marcus graduated from Northeast Lauderdale High School in 1999. He served his country in the United States Naval Reserves. He has traveled the world working in several different countries, including Africa and Iraq. He was a very dedicated and hard-working man, that was a provider for many. Marcus made the decision to work for himself and became an Entrepreneur/Owner of Thorn Corp. Marcus was a very loving and devoted son, brother, father, and friend. He held the value of family very high. His personality draws you to him, and his smile is infectious. He grew up in the church starting at an early age with beginnings at South Liberty M.B. Church in Canton, Ms. He later became a devoted member of Mt. Calvary M.B. Church in Meridian, Ms., where he sang in the youth choir and played the drums. Marcus is survived by his children: Austin Thornton, Caleb Thornton, Sydney Thornton, Isabella Thornton and Jonathan Denicola; his father Frederick Thornton of St. Louis, Mo; Siblings Raenell Thornton of St. ·Louis, Mo and Fredericka Thornton of Meridian, Ms; niece and nephews Malliary Thornton, Kevin Thornton, and Andrew Thornton; and a host of loving family and friends. Marcus was preceded in death by his mother Michele S. (Johnson) Thornton and Honorary Father Donels Johnson.
